It’s been a while since I’ve posted on this blog. My life circumstances took me away from photography for the most part. And then, a friend asked me to enter a photography competition with Leica Camera USA. When I worked on my portfolio for that competition I fell in love with boats. And that led me to photograph the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend.
Now, let me tell you about this festival. It’s the second-largest wooden boat festival in the world. The festival held on the weekend of September 6 – 8, 2019 showcased over 140 boats ranging from skiffs to commercial fishing boats–all made of wood. I, along with 649 others volunteered at this year’s festival. I did not attend any of the numerous workshops because I spent my spare time viewing and photographing the boats.
Whether you like boats or not, feel free to enjoy these photographs.

So happy you sailed by.
Great pictures. Wooden boats have such a nice natural look and feel. Can’t go wrong with photographs of them. (Might try selling some of these lovely portraits? Sailing magazines? Really nice work.)
I hadn’t thought of selling the photographs. It would be nice to make some money from them.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I hope you are doing well and avoiding hurricanes and floods.
