It took me five years of a bus or car traveling past Joe’s Garden to finally whip out my camera and take some photos. Every time I went past this urban farm (the last farm in the City of Bellingham, Washington), the sight of the farm caught my breath. I don’t even know if it is organic, but watching the vegetables and flowers grow lifts my spirit.
So to celebrate my fifth anniversary in the City of Subdued Excitement, I bring you this offering of vegetables and flowers. BTW, if you’re in Bellingham and you want to visit the farm, it’s in Happy Valley near Western Washington University. See the website for directions and visiting times.

Nothing is as real as a farm. A place to connect to life, earth, sky, and soul
(and anyone who wears Keens is heaaded in a positive direction as far as I’m concerned – no wonder the sunflowers greeted you so happily)
Thank you. Well, I guess this makes Keens magical shoes. Move over, Dorothy, your ruby slippers have nothing on me.
