Thanks to a generous offer, I stayed at a beach cottage for two nights. The tide was way out and created a desert sand effect. While I didn’t see any herons the first night I stayed at the cottage, they appeared the next morning. I almost missed my bus back to Bellingham because I spent the morning photographing the herons. Fortunately, the bus was late due to a train blocking the tracks further north.
