Take a look back a year ago, five years ago, or ten years ago and have a conversation with the you of that period. Chances are, you will notice transformation in action. Perhaps this only applies to people who have delved into soul work through spiritual and metaphysical practices. Or perhaps we all change as life works us like waves dissolving rocks into sand over time.
We notice subtle and not so subtle changes in our bodies as we age, but do we notice changes to our mental processes in the way of eliminating spiritual and mental beliefs? I’m an astrologer and I have noticed the most profound changes in anyone with their Moon, Sun or Rising Sign in Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn). I have also noticed transformation in Pisces and Virgo people in the past three years. Often these people call into spiritual radio shows mentioning that they have endured a dark night of the soul and they don’t recognize their lives any longer. But this post isn’t about loss. I’m here to explore the idea of expanding consciousness. We hear about this concept on spiritual radio shows and we read about it in spiritual books and articles. What does it mean?
With the current outer planet transits (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) we are experiencing a major shift of energy on the planet. Sensitive people experience this shift in profound ways and everyone experiences the shift in some way. Every being on the planet is part of the shift. When we expand our consciousness we release old beliefs, patterns, fears, behaviors, and thoughts that never served us, even if we believed in them. We soaked in those thoughts, patterns, beliefs, and behaviors from parents, siblings, peers, and authority figures. We soaked in limiting beliefs from the media who claims that there is never enough. If you don’t believe me look for that theme in news stories and you will find it 90% of the time. We have lack of housing, lack of jobs, lack of money, lack of food, lack of water, lack of health care, lack of suitable mates, and lack of power.
And yet, look around and what do you see in your reality? If you see trees, look at the abundance of leaves. If you live near a body of water, think about the abundance of water and beings living in and upon the water. Abundance is every where from clouds in the sky, to raindrops, to flocks of birds, to pebbles and sand on a beach. The problem is we don’t always show gratitude or appreciation for this abundance. We forget to show the abundance of life respect and we might even destroy the abundance out of ignorance and limiting beliefs, especially the limiting belief of lack.
We can find an abundance of healers, coaches and teachers to facilitate releasing limiting and fearful beliefs, blocks and patterns. A trip to YouTube provides us with clearing and releasing videos from our favorite spiritual authors and teachers. Public libraries provide resources too in the form of books, DVDs and CDs with meditation and release exercises. Hay House Radio, Contact Radio, and Blog Talk Radio offer a variety of spiritual and new age shows. Some hosts invite callers to share their insights or ask for help with releasing old energies.
Once we release those energies, expansion of our minds, hearts, and souls begins. This looks like applying for jobs we said no to in the past. This looks likes shortening our “no” lists and exploring new options. This looks like stepping into the unknown and seeing it as an adventure. This looks like changing one’s diet. This looks like a transformation of wardrobe and appearance, but mostly this looks like a change of attitude. Expansion implies that we open doors we kept shut in the past out of fear or someone else’ disapproval. Well, we no longer require anyone’s approval. Living authentically means we call the shots in our lives.
So get to work and start clearing away rubbish from the mind, heart and soul. Make room for spiritual and mind expansion. Play around with different lifestyles that suit you. Dream big and follow your passions. The only thing that stops you are your limiting beliefs. Next time someone says, “Well, that’s reality” in regard to a limiting belief, tell them, “It’s not my reality.” And walk out the door and discover new worlds that await you.
